The saying that goes 'no pain, no gain' holds true specially in the muscle world. If you want that sculpted body, you have to get off that couch and start stretching and exercising.
Many guys make the mistake of giving too much effort during warm-ups, so they get tired even before they can start lifting weights. Don't do cardio on weight-training days, or do them after to you lift weights so your energy is reserved for muscle-building. There's nothing wrong with warming up, but you have to stop at the right time so you won't wear yourself down unnecessarily.
Distractions shouldn't be welcome into a routine. One mistake that gym-goers make is that they invest too much time in fellow gym-goers by making small talk. This is unnecessarily taking up energy, and if you talk too much between sets, your muscles get too much rest, which actually decreases your potential progress. Focus is very important.
It's the rest periods in between gym workouts that the muscle actually gets formed. Muscles need time to get sculpted. You can't have sculpted abs and bulgy biceps in a day. It takes time for the body to form shapely muscles. So long as you have a workout program and you stick to it, you'll be on your way to getting that beach body.
Good form is key when you're muscle building or doing any other kind of workout. Make sure that you know your capabilities and lift weights that are just heavy enough for you. Moderation enables you to control your movements and doing so will increase effectivity and even prevent injury at the gym.
Another common mistake is spending too much time using machines and cables. Choose your equipment carefully, and your body will show you better results. You don't have to completely stay away from machines but free-weights should take up majority of your time at the gym. Gloves are also important because the sweat from your hands will cause your grip to slip. Invest in some good wrist straps and workout gloves.
Most guys think that muscle building is difficult work. While it does take time and effort, it's no different from other goals you want to achieve in life. If you set your mind to having that buff body and are committed to making it happen, then you'll be getting that lean, mean body in no time.
Exercising improperly isn't going to get you any progress. Building up your strength takes time, but this can be done through making sure that you have enough energy and focus to get you through a routine. Exercising the right way will get your results faster and easier. Do this and you'll get ripped in no time.
